[ they are going to say some damn ugly things to the ocean. that is fact. shōyō gets moving and brings an entire two canteens of water for him to share, along with two towels and his good old friend, egg the blaziken. being on the beach sends a bit of a chill down his spine if he lingers in thought for too long— that’s why he picks a good spot, digs a cleave in the sand and throws some coals in them. ]

There— Can you do the thing, Egg?

[ egg bends down into a kneel to breathe short embers onto the coals until they kindle. while that happens, he prepares the towels for seatings. ]

[ there she is! and just in time for the blankets. picanha, his speedy chocolate spotted border collie omen, bursts from shoyo in a mist and bounds to her with a wagging tail. ]

Ah—! [ and, well. now that she has her face in the sand, the dog slobbers all over her head and sticks her snout in soft spots to rouse the fighter. shoyo comes in a bolt, too. ]

Hey, [ and gently, he attempts to lift her. ] hey, I've gotcha'— Vi?

[mumbles from the sand as her hand rises to (ah yes the old tried and true remedy of dog.) pet the doggo. she'll assist on that, shoyo, and not be dead weight as she wipes at her face with her other hand. slobberhaired and still somewhat sandfaced she lets out a long sigh.]

[hey, picanha, hey. who's a good omen? you are. this never gets old. it just doesn't.]

[ picanha’s lopsided canine grin doesn’t ease up when given the best of shaggy waggies. she’s the good omen. it is her. once she’s at least sitting , shōyō eases back and sits down where he is. oh— and reaching for the water canteens! ]

I got us some towels, too . . . Man, [ he hands vi’s canteen over, ] you look beat.

[she tries to smile - face makes the correct arrangement of features, sure - but it's not genuine, or - more accurately - it's so tired. there are tears beneath it, but she doesn't have them yet. she's tired of that, too. as bad as she looks on the outside, she feels doubly so on the inside.

water canteens, yes please. towels? shoyo you really did think of everything. wait. does she. have to get up and sit on that towel? is it for sitting? because oh no she is fine right where she is. she could move later. yes. moving is for a later time.

but she will take that canteen and guzzle it.]
