Thank you, though I suppose we should both be more careful sending pictures for a while, if something like this could happen. It's a new trick, to be sure.
an onion with soooo many layers. guess that just gives us more reasons to show them to each other in person, right??
[ it is sadly (or not sadly—? shoyo's turn to prove the point. the video that's sent to viktor seems obvious enough, and by high-energy (fun) behavior with others, it's clearly shoyo! the game is intense and harbors a crowd of cheering spectators for more than hour's worth of a grand match announced over loud speakers: the msby black jackals VS. the schweiden adlers!. somanymoments from the very start of the game, tothemiddle, toend— and perhaps so passionate, quick-moving and that even entertaining that first time watches could have a hard time stopping. the black jackals win, and no one on that court is left saddened.
plus, shoyo's got a veryfertileimagination even during (or was that just an unbelievable amount of concentration?). ]
[viktor's first reaction is genuinely wondering if shōyō sent him a video to some volley ball stuff. of course it becomes immediately clear shōyō is in the video, so ah. a memory- a good one he hopes?
yes, he's pretty sure it is, though he also has no fucking idea what's happening half the time. he calls pal over and they sit on the couch together, watching this majestic display and likely making baffled commentary. what is a dink? why is that man wearing a cape suddenly? how does any human alive have as much energy as shōyō? mysteries.
but it's fun? it's fun in a way viktor wasn't really expecting. he's never cared for sports, just couldn't find them engaging in the socially acceptable way that others bonded over with small talk and surprise tickets. perhaps it's different when you know someone playing, perhaps he simply likes shōyō well enough to give it a proper chance, maybe having pal there to peanut gallery with him makes all the difference, or maybe it's just that good of a game but?
congrats, you have successfully managed to make viktor arcane enjoy a Sports Ball match. the true power of shōyō.]
I think congratulations are in order. Palamedes also compliments your playing, mostly along the lines that you hit the ball very well.
I am afraid this sort of match may have been lost on us but I admit, it was rather fun to watch.
??? oh thanks!! my birthday’s in three weeks still but that’s awesome to hear!
[ wait, was that . . . what he was talking about? shōyō has a feeling that he should scroll back. rather, picanha mentally nudges him to. lo and behold—! ]
wait wait wait you guys saw the whole thing?
[ viktor and pal……………… sat down and watched volleyball for like two hours?! ]
[same as pal, he'll have to make something else now too. what can he make for a volleyball loving man... he'll figure it out. but right ok shōyō realizes what happened now. yes, they actually watched a Whole Volley Ball, praise them.]
Yes, it was quite the match, at least I have to imagine it was. If every volley ball match was like this I'd be shocked people can handle the sport for so long.
Oh, my apologies if it was personal? We did not mean to invade.
on the 21st but i already got the best present?! you and pal watched one of my games!!!!
[ HE WISHED HE WAS THERE— well, he was, but maybe not in a way that he could see them. the way viktor will know, for a fact, that shoyo does not feel invaded in the slightest: ]
they're all that intense!! for real!! that was one of my favorite games!! what was your favorite part?! do you want to see more??? i have memories of the olympics and men's international league!!
[ shoyo "STEP INTO MY MIND I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE" hinata ]
[ok, here is viktor chuckling out loud at most of that. well. nevermind invading his private thoughts, apparently shōyō will offer a streaming service if he could. he's not sure he believes every single game can be that intense but he imagines to shōyō they must be.
hm, maybe the lens of shōyō's mind is part of what made it such an engaging ride.]
I am afraid this is terribly... sap? Sappy is the word? Palamedes tells me that is the word. It is sappy of me but I rather enjoyed the end and how satisfied both teams seemed. It was not what I would have expected.
Well, if you learn how to project those memories I wouldn't say no. Perhaps you can come over and commentate.
[aka be there to explain shit because they have no fucking idea what's happening more than they really should. at least pal has the excuse of a world without volleyball, viktor is just the worst.]
most of us from that game were friends from high school, all from different schools!! that was the first time in years that we got together again, so we really missed a good game.
[ it's too late. viktor has invited a japanese man who is naturalized as brazilian and that means his sports narrations are crazy wild. the pact is sealed. ]
so it'd be a super pleasure to narrate the olympics for you guys!!
[ shoyo has to put down his omni for just a second to rub his hands together. aw, yeah. ]
it's an international sports festival! we've got the summer and winter olympics where A LOT of athletes representing their countries get together in one place to compete for medals! they're done every 4 years! i played in the summer olympics for japan in 2021, men's volleyball and beach volleyball division!
next time i'm going to try and play for brazil in beach volleyball. I've been living there for years before trench.
[he needs a minute to wonder why there are two. is it that much different on a beach? the sand he guesses? volleyball is a fascinating and mysterious sport]
And they'll allow you despite not being a native? Interesting, your world seems rather peaceful all things considered. That it can come together for this sort of competition.
[it also occurs to him this probably means shōyō is hot shot sports guy? like he's in this big world thing? huh. look at that, knowing a Sports Celebrity. probably.]
[look at that, he knows a celebrity. he took a selfie with a sports star. let no one say the trench doesn't let dreams come true as well as nightmares.]
Interesting, I would have expected a longer period but that does seem fair.
I suppose I do. No countries were at war in my world but there certainly wasn't this sense of camaraderie, enough for an international sports tournament. In truth I think it shows you come from a more advanced world than most in many matters.
you think so? i mean, i don't think i'll ever see something as cool as your magic tec where i'm from (unless its a video game). that's like beyond advanced!

i'm already super duper there!!! i know this was an accident but i'm glad for it! you're totally awesome viktor!!!!

That explains the atmosphere. In truth I have always assumed sports to be aggressively competitive.
Now, what exactly is the olympics? A tournament of some sort?
